A Novel Bookstore by Laurence Cossé5/29/2023 I could see an elitism forming right before my eyes, and I bristled at the idea of people telling me what is and isn’t good. Of course it would be naive to think that this isn’t already taking place in the book world, and so I empathise with the frustration of these fictional characters. I initially felt a bit uncomfortable with this idea. From this disillusionment, the idea grows to open a bookshop called The Good Novel that sells “All the books no one is talking about”–this boils down to selecting titles that may or may not be in print but are some of the best books out there. A marketing strategy you cynically ask? Well perhaps, but the shop is the brainchild of two idealistic, avid readers, Van and Francesca who are both disillusioned with the publishing industry and bookshops. The plot concerns a bookshop in Paris which sells only ‘ good’ books. I recently read A Novel Bookstore by Laurence Cosse, and if you want to read the full review, go to Mostly Fiction.

Not surprisingly, half the trouble comes in unraveling Merlin's riddles and helping Teddy use his rhyming magic correctly. With the help of their old pal Teddy (Morgan le Fay's apprentice, last seen in dog form in four earlier Tree House stories), the two "Master Librarians and Magicians of Everyday Magic" must solve the mystery behind a castle full of ghosts and a menacing army of ravens. One wonders why Merlin can't handle this sort of thing himself, but then of course we wouldn't get a chance to see Jack and Annie have another seat-of-the-pants adventure, getting mixed up with shape-shifting magic, armies of birds, a puzzling gem of power, and all sorts of other trouble. In the second of the "Merlin Missions"-hardback additions to Mary Pope Osborne's Magic Tree House series-plucky heroes Jack and Annie must once again must travel back in time to rescue Camelot from looming danger. Mein fahler Freund by Isaac Marion5/29/2023 Immediately, I was hooked – not only by the gorgeous cover, but by the idea of a plausible romance…from the zombie perspective. Why did I read this book: I first heard about Warm Bodies after reading Angie’s review (as always, the review was fantastic and made me want to buy the book). How did I get this book: Review Copy from the Publisher Scary, funny, and surprisingly poignant, Warm Bodies is about being alive, being dead, and the blurry line in between. His decision to protect her will transform not only R, but his fellow Dead, and perhaps their whole lifeless world. Julie is a blast of color in the otherwise dreary and gray landscape that surrounds R. He has no memories, noidentity, and no pulse, but he has dreams.Īfter experiencing a teenage boy’s memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and strangely sweet relationship with the victim’s human girlfriend. He can speak just a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. He shuffles through an America destroyed by war, social collapse, and the mindless hunger of his undead comrades, but he craves something more than blood and brains. R is a young man with an existential crisis–he is a zombie. This revolutionary concept has improved millions of relationships across the globe. Chapman called these ways of expressing and receiving love "The 5 Love Languages®." He even wrote a best-selling book about it. The premise is simple: Different people, with different personalities, give and receive love in different ways. Surprisingly, their answers fell into five different categories, revealing a unique approach for how to effectively love another person. He asked himself, "When someone's saying, 'I feel like my spouse doesn't love me,' what did they want?" Chapman pored three years of session notes. Recognizing this pattern and remembering the rocky start in his own marriage, Dr. One spouse would say something like, "I feel like he doesn't love me."Īnd the other would protest, "I don't know what else to do.
